plus Yuri on anime pics screensaver ^_^
"Then Gothmog hewed him with his black axe, and a white flame sprang up from
the helm of Fingon as it was cloven. Thus fell the High King of the Noldor"
—J.R.R. Tolkien, The Silmarillion
My primary computer, and the one this site is being hosted off of.
I assembled it entirely from components.
Gothmog's old motherboard unfortunately started dying, so it has now been replaced with a new motherboard and CPU, making it essentially a different computer.
Specs:
- AMD Athlon XP 3000+ overclocked to ~3200+
- ATI Radeon X800 video
- 512MB PC2100 DDR SDRAM
- 250GB 7200RPM IDE HD
- Sony DRU-820A DVD burner
- 52x24x52x CD-RW
- 3½" and 5¼" floppy drives
- OS: Windows XP Professional SP2

And yes, that is a 5¼" floppy drive in there :D

Aerial view of my console setup
No, you haven't entered a museum or a time-warp into the '80s, this is part of my room, featuring two monitors, old computers, a pile of consoles, and a bestial array of cabling making it all work (mostly).
What's even more amazing is how little most of it cost :)
A brief run-down of what's here:
- Commodore 1702 monitor (it's color, it works, and I got it for $5. Yay!)
- 17" VGA monitor (even better, this one was free!)
- TV→VGA converter box so everything can run on the monitor
- Stereo and graphic equalizer (hand-me-downs)
- Commodore 64 (there's another one on the shelf too that has a broken sound chip)
- Apple //c
- Magnavox Odyssey² (Atari's lesser-known competitor)
- Nintendo Entertainment System
- In the drawer thing the NES is on:
- Super NES
- Nintendo 64
- Atari 7800 (backward-compatible with 2600 games)
- PlayStation 2
- A broken VCR from eBay ($5, eats tapes but the TV tuner works)
- Three power strips to run it all
- A shelf full of unconnected joysticks and other controllers
- Boxes full of 5¼" floppies
- Stacks of game cartridges
- ...and much, much more
It's a wonder I have any place to sleep...
